SUBRAMAYAN CHANDRASEKHAR




S Chandrasekhar

 Oct 19  was the birth anniversary of S. Chandrasekhar.He was  born on 19 Octobers 1910 .S.Chandrasekhar was born in Lahore(now in Pakistan)He did his school education in Madras   and college education in Presidency college Madras .He  was the nephew of the C.V Raman . He went to Cambridge university on a scholarship .
                                      In 1930's Chandrasekhar put forward a theory on evolution of stars .He postulated that dying stars at their end of life of mass greater than 1.4 times  solar mass  would be turning to supernova explosion and finally reach neutron stars or black holes .Arthur Stanely Eddington didn't accept this opinion and ruled out it as ridiculous.
                                         Chandrasekhar was not succeeded in pushing through his theory .It took 20 year to get his theory recognised.Though much later, recognition came after  him. 1983 he had been awarded Nobel prize for physics .
